New Michigan Whitetail Record
A woman walking her dog last weekend discovered a decomposing whitetail carcass. She called a neighbor and asked him to dispose of the carcass. Upon viewing the deer for the first time, the man knew that this deer was no ordinary whitetail. The police were called to obtain a possesion permit and photos of the buck began to quickly circulate on the internet.
This southern Michigan buck has been greenscored at 257 B.C. Non-Typical points. Although this rack is a "pickup" and not a rack harvested by a hunter, it blows away the current Boone & Crockett Non-Typical Michigan record by over 30 inches.
The deer was found close to a highway and may be a road kill. The carcass was too badly decomposed to determine if the deer had been shot.
What is amazing about the score of this buck is that most of the score comes from it's basic frame, not numerous abnormal points that commonly drive up a non-typical score. The yardstick shown in one photo, clearly shows that the buck is at least 30 inches wide and the beam length is incredible. The basic six by six with split brows on both sides and numerous stickers near the burrs and tremendous mass, is impressive to say the least.
How unfortunate it is, that a hunter didn't actually harvest this buck, so that it could be recognized as a new Michigan record.
